Originally from Lavia in darkest Satakunta, baritone Joonas Tuominen completed his first degree in music education, and this month he will begin a year-long teaching position at the infamous Kallio High School. Meanwhile, Joonas studies vocal pedagogy at Metropolia and has recently appeared in performances of Evgeny Onegin, Le nozze di Figaro and Orpheus’ Muses’ 2016 production of Il ritorno d’Ulisse. In this production, Joonas takes on the roles of Mercury and Tribune. Besides music, Joonas is an avid traveller, and his most recent trips have taken him to the Himalayas and Japan.
